Have a go and tug of war

An outdoor cinema and tug-of-war are being organised to raise money for charity.

Both events are raising money for Blood Cancer UK and Mencap, charities chosen by South Holland District Council leader Andrew Woolf.
The tug of war is part of the Give It A Go day to be held at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field in Spalding on Sunday.
“It’s always a good fun and a way of getting people a chance to try activities for free from local sports clubs and community groups through a range of workshops and demonstrations, giving everyone the chance to learn something new,” said Coun Woolf.
“Teams are invited to enter now so why not get a team together from your workplace, family or friends and give it a go,” he said.
In partnership with Spalding Round Table, an outdoor cinema event will take place on Friday, and Saturday August 18 and 19 in Ayscoughfee Gardens.
The first screening will be at 6pm on Friday when The Greatest Showman will be presented, and it’s the sing-along version.
On Saturday morning at 11am, there will be a sing-along to Disney’s Frozen and the fun continues later with the classic Top Gun from 6pm.
Tickets will be £5 for a family of four, adults are £2 and under-16s £1. They are subject to availability and can be bought from the website www.ticketsource.co.uk/spalding-round-table
Tug of war teams need to be made up of seven people and entry is £10 a team.
The Give It A Go day runs from 11am to 3pm with the tug of war at noon.
