Frustration for Pulling

There were huge frustrations for Gosberton’s Abbi Pulling in the final round of the F1 Academy ahead of a long break before the final round.
She was quick at the Paul Ricard circuit in France, topping the time sheets in both the free practices and then again in qualifying one before finishing second in two.
She told the FA Academy website: “I’m really happy with P1.
“I think it shows how me and Rodin Carlin have been working to get to this point.
“The car feels really good and competitive in the hotter conditions.
“I’m a bit disappointed in Q2 with P2. I didn’t maximise the first sector on my best lap but regardless, to start on the front row in both race one and three and puts us in a good position for us to fight for wins.”
She was however jumped at the start line by Nerea Marti who went on to claim the victory, despite Pulling coming back at her late on.
The Rodin Carlin driver finished just 1.2 seconds away from notching a first win of the season.
Pulling was able to make up a few places in race two and grabbed two points for a seventh placed finish in race two.
A poor start to race three left her well down the field, but as it turned out it didn’t matter as she was disqualified after the race, which was won by Marta Garcia who looks set to land the inaugural title.
The FI Academy said the disqualification was “a result of a technical non-conformity of the front left tyre pressure on her #10 Rodin Carlin car.”
“In a check prior to the formation lap, the tyre pressure was found to be 0.4PSI lower than the limit defined the technical preview provided by the official tyre supplier.”
With just one round to go, Pulling is fifth in the standings.
The drivers have to wait a fair while for the last round though which takes place in Austin, Texas, USA on October 20 and 22.
