Police have concluded their inquiries into a domestic incident in Sutton Bridge and said there will be no further action taken.

As reported in The Voice last week, Withington Street and part of Bridge Road were sealed off for much of Wednesday last week as officers – some armed – dealt with the matter, which began in the early hours.

Police said: “A 35-year-old man from the Sutton Bridge area was interviewed about the domestic related incident.
“The police have concluded their investigation and no further action is being taken.”

Officers had earlier revealed that the incident was not as serious as first thought, but the response was appropriate given the first reports.

A statement said: “We were initially called to a domestic incident where threats of serious violence had allegedly been made against people who had earlier been in a house on the street.”

No one was injured or arrested during the incident, which ended in the early afternoon.

Police added: “We would like to thank the residents of Sutton Bridge for their patience during the course of the incident. From the information we received in the first instance it was appropriate that we treated the incident very seriously.
“Our main aim throughout was to ensure the safety and wellbeing of those involved and that of the wider public.”
