A charity is looking to site a caravan at a Tongue End nature reserve to train people and to watch over the animals there.
Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust is looking to erect a static caravan at a farm nearby to Willow Tree Fen.
Documents submitted with the application state: “The static caravan will be used as temporary accommodation for trainees, students and volunteers who help Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust to manage and protect 19 nature reserves over the south of the country whilst providing on-site security at Willow Tree Fen.
“Within the conservation sector most people gain experience to help them apply for jobs through traineeships and volunteering, in return for their time we would provide them with accommodation and experience of the conservation sector.”
The importance of Willow Tree Fen has heightened in recent years after the first cranes to breed in Lincolnshire in 400 years nested there.
A team of volunteers have conducted a dawn till dusk watch from March 1 until September 30 each year since their arrival in 2020 to protect the birds from disturbance
The society say there have been three chicks over the last three years.
The caravan would be accessed off Slip Drove and connected to the existing electric, water and a cesspool tank that is currently emptied every few months.
