LETTER: Roundabout needs a bridge

We at PEDALS were delighted that our recent communication regarding the A16 roundabouts was read out in full and that all members of the LCC committee had received paper copies.
Nevertheless we are concerned that, while the main objective of the widening of McDonalds roundabout is to ease the flow of traffic on the A16 itself, no thought appears to have been given to traffic crossing the A16, especially pedestrians and cyclists.
It is already dangerous to cross from the town side to McDonalds, and Coun Rob Gibson rightly raised the topic of children making their natural journeys to/from McDonalds, Baytree and the Fun Farm.
We understand that the bid for enlarging the two roundabouts will not go through if it has to be held up beyond a certain date, but we do wish to hold Lincs CC to delivering on a bridge over the roundabout for pedestrians and cyclists which will cost extra but save lives and put down a marker for Active Travel.
What was disappointing at the meeting was that only one person present, Coun Gibson, mentioned any form of transport other than HGVs and motor cars.
