LETTERS – Worried over turnout

I’ve been on the campaign trail for the past three weeks and sadly, I’ve come to the conclusion that the turnout will be very low on May 4.
I’ve been fortunate to serve my ward as a Conservative district councillor for over 14 years. This election has thrown up a worrying scenario because people are telling me at the door how they are pleased with the local Conservative councillors but are disappointed in Central Government.
I cannot stress how much local politics differs greatly from Central Government politics and how important it is to use your vote on May 4.
Could I please ask for Conservative voters not to be complacent and turn out to support their local Conservative candidate. If not, there’s the possibility that by not placing your vote, an Independent could win the seat.
Many Conservative candidates have years of experience under their belts supporting their wards.
All we can ask is for voters to please turn out and vote Conservative. If not, then some hard-working, experienced Conservative councillors might lose their seats and residents might get a councillor that doesn’t represent Conservative values.
