Job losses at two more companies

Two South Holland firms have announced they are looking to cut jobs.

After Gousto announced it was to close one of its Spalding sites last week, Lightspeed Broadband is to cut at least 19 jobs and staff at Flamingo flowers are also taking part in a consultation.
A statement from Flamingo said: “Following a significant increase in operating costs, Flamingo Flowers and Plants have entered into a period of consultation with employees at their sites in Weston and Spalding.
“We realise this can be a difficult period for those colleagues impacted by these proposed changes, but we believe they are in the long term interests of operating a sustainable business.
“We cannot comment further on any individual circumstances, due to the ongoing consultation process, however, can confirm this is part of a wider business improvement plan, being overseen by Martin Hudson, co-founder of the business, who was appointed interim CEO of Flamingo Group International in March 2023.”
A spokesman for Lightspeed Broadband says its successes in its three years of operating out of Low Funey were ‘all thanks to the talent, hard work, dedication, and commitment of the LightSpeed team’.
“We started with nothing and now have 125 employees,” the spokesman continued. “But it’s time for a re-organisation to reflect the fact that we are slowing the network build rate and focussing our resources on supporting our customers and launching new services.
“We recognise that reorganisations are always difficult.
“The detailed plan is not yet complete, but it is likely that the head count reduction will be greater than 19 staff.
“That requires us to go through a formal consultancy process, so that’s what we are doing. And, of course, we will support all staff as best we can.
“We are undertaking these modifications because we know we can be better, stronger, and even more fit for purpose. And that will result in our customers, staff and shareholders all being better served.’
