Boerboom represents G&S Racing at Silverstone

G&S Racing Kawasaki was down to one rider for the opening round of the 2023 Pirelli National Superstock championship which took place at Silverstone.
Jorel Boerboom rode to 31st in the first race on Saturday and went on to take a strong 25th on Sunday in the second encounter.
Without a rider in the Junior Superstock championship at the moment due to Asher Durham losing his main sponsor, it was down to Dutch rider Boerboom to fly the flag for the team.
With a rule change this year the Superstock riders now run on slick tyres which makes a huge difference to the handling of the bike but Boerboom soon got to grips with the bike and started the first of two races from the 11th row of the gird.
He made good progress through to 29th position before encountering a technical problem with the big Kawasaki and lost ground but he managed to nurse the bike home in 31st position.
Starting the second race from row 11 once again, Boerboom got a clean start and began to pick off the riders ahead until he got embroiled in a three-way battle for 30th position.
He made it up into 29th, and then 27th in the latter stages of the race, before the red flag came out after multiple crashes on lap 20 to bring the race to an abrupt end with Boerboom being elevated up to 25th place.
Team manager Tom Fisher said: “Jorel did very well this weekend.
“Considering we have not really tested with slick tyres due to the weather, he was quick to get to grips with them.
“His lap times are faster than last year and comparable to the midfield riders so if he could just manage to qualify further upfield he could easily be in a point scoring position.
“Onwards and upwards, we hope to have the Junior Superstock machine out in the next round at Oulton Park.
“Asher Durham was at Silverstone with us all weekend and helping with the commentary for the Junior Superstock races.
“He is making good progress in securing new sponsorship and we hope to have him on the bike shortly.”
The next round is at Oulton Park on April 29 and May 1.
