Tigers facing play-off challenge

Holbeach United were left frustrated as they drew a blank in the Thurlow Nunn on Saturday.
Up against Debenham who finished the game with ten men, they created plenty of chances but failed to find the target and had to settle for a point.
“We pretty much had the ball for 90 minutes as they parked the bus and had everyone behind the ball,” boss Danny Clifton said. “With hindsight we could’ve done more in the first half and moved the ball a bit quicker.
“After they had the player sent off they were even more defensive.
“We did try to break through and when we did beat the defence their keeper pulled off some really good saves.
“You’ve got to give credit to Debenham and the way they carried out their game plan.
“They did so much running around two players had to come off half an hour in and the red card was two tired tackles.
“At the end they were over the moon and we were disappointed.”
Eighth-placed Holbeach travel to Cornard United on Saturday who are in the final play-off position of fifth but just two points ahead.
“It’s going to be really tough,” said Clifton. “We’ve a run of tough games coming up and have to make up the points we’ve dropped in the last two matches.
“It’s a challenge but one we’re looking forward to.”
