Young farmers plough on

Members of Spalding Young Farmers battled blustery weather for the recent Annual Working Day.

The group welcomed more than 30 tractors with some ploughing for fun, and others taking part in the competition.

The event was raising money for Lincolnshire Rural Support Network and Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance.

Young farmer Abi Rayner, said the whole day had been a great success.

“We also had a barbecue and homemade cakes for everyone. There was also a raffle and a guess how many balloons in the tractor competition,” she said.

Spalding Young Farmers are currently holding new member nights every Wednesday. Further information can be found on the group’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

Members don’t have to be farmers and a recent bowling night proved to be a great success.

Winner of the ploughing competition was David Disdel, second Alan Thorpe and third was Russell Nicol.
