£59,500 of Springfields planning cash is available for Spalding town centre projects

Fresh projects that will improve, promote and attract visitors to Spalding town centre have a chance to apply for a slice of £59,500 funding.

South Holland District Council has that amount left from a Springfields S106 pot.
This was money provided by the developer of Springfields as part of a planning condition when permission was granted more than ten years ago.

The most recent projects approved for funding include:
Spalding town centre manager (£120,000)
water taxi mooring at Chain Bridge Forge (£11,000)
joint marketing campaign with Springfields (£30,000)
bandstand and refurbished aviary in Ayscoughfee Gardens (£57,000)

Projects will need to completed by March 31, 2015, and will be assessed on a number of criteria including evidence of need, value for money, environmental benefits and the amount of match funding put in by applicants.

A district council spokesman said: “This is yet another opportunity for groups or organisations who would like to get involved in something really positive for Spalding town centre.
“The first round of Springfields S106 monies funded a number of initiatives to enhance and promote our town centre and we hope that this further funding will build on those projects already being delivered.”

Applicants have until November 14 to submit bids, which will be considered by a member panel at the district council.
Anyone wishing to find out more details or to ask if a project is eligible can phone Nigel Burch or Jayne Shale in the council’s economic development team on 01775 761161.
