Praise for ‘hero’ fundraiser Ann

Kind public donations to help a Holbeach woman keep raising money for a charity has helped her reach a truly incredible milestone.

Ann Gregory feared she may no longer be able to hold the sales for Jerry Green Dog Rescue at her Boston Road South home after she was told she needed to make a retrospective change of use planning application.

But not only did kind donations from the public raise enough to pay the £468 to submit the plans now awaiting a decision, the excess was granted straight to the charity and means she’s now topped the £25,000 mark for donations to it.

After reading the story of Brandy and Marley, a pair of best pals who came into the care of Jerry Green Dog Rescue in poor condition with Brandy requiring extensive surgery to remove a large mass on her back; Ann felt compelled to help them.

In the summer of 2020, Ann placed posters around her community asking for unwanted, saleable items that she then collected to be sold at one of her large garden sales, with all the proceeds donated to Jerry Green Dog Rescue.

She has since continued with her fundraising enterprise and to date has raised an astonishing £25,000.

Ann says that she began fundraising because of her love for dogs and wanted to make a difference in her spare time.

She says that she loves everything about what she does and the support that she gets from her community is so rewarding.

Ann’s support for the charity didn’t stop in fundraising, she also provided care for their rescue dogs as a foster carer before finding her perfect match in Poppy, who she adopted.

Peter Dennis, Community Activity Co-Ordinator for Jerry Green, said: “Ann is an inspiration.

“The support she gives us is a life-line and allows us to continue to transform the lives of the dogs in our care and those that we are yet to meet, that one day, will need our help.

“We couldn’t be more grateful to her for not only generating such an incredible amount of funds for our dogs, but also raising awareness about the vital work that we do.

“She really is a hero.”
