A former South Holland garden centre could be transformed into a premium car sales centre.
Plans for the old Wyevale garden centre have been submitted for change of use permission.
The garden centre stopped trading in 2019 and left the site in May of the same year.
“The applicant and owner are keen to ensure that the site does not remain vacant and instead wish to find an appropriate new alternative uses to occupy the site, which will provide local employment and generate business within the location,” says information with the application.
Part of the site had been used for Crowland Caravans and Camping, but the company is moving when the lease comes to an end.
The application also says that JJ Premium Cars, currently trading in Wharf Road, Woodston, is looking to move to the site for car sales, repairs, bodyshop and MoT inspections.
“The former garden centre is intended to serve as a car showroom and renovated cars for sale would be stored and displayed around the site on the hardstandings.
“No building operations are proposed and the proposals are only for a change of use of the site,” it adds.
If approved, there would be no change to the structures on the site.
“The proposed uses do have some potential to result in noise impacts, as a result of the moving vehicle repair works but are very much in keeping with the existing lawful use of the site as a garden centre and caravan sales and workshop,” concludes the report.
If plans are approved, the site would have around 166 laid-out parking spaces – more than is needed for staff and customers.
