Tributes have been paid to a Spalding-based guitarist who passed away recently.
Ray Fenwick was best know as the guitarist in The Spencer Davis Group from 1967 to 1969 and The Ian Gillan Band with the former Deep Purple vocalist from 1975 to 1978.
He played with a host other band, including The Syndicats in the early 1960s, and was a regular session musician, playing on Bo Diddley albums among a varied discography that spanned many genres.
The co-writer to the theme tune to TV series Magpie, Ray also recorded and released three solo albums.
In later years he taught guitar at Boston College but also continued to produce and play music releasing a track with the psychedelic electronic duo Amorphous Androgenous last year.
Friend Roger Fullilove said: “He was a very fine gent who was always very willing to share what he knew about the music industry.”
Ray died aged 75 on April 30.
