UAH to offer new T levels this year

The University Academy Holbeach is the only school in South Lincolnshire to be awarded T level provision.

It is investing more than £2m in new facilities which students will use for the new qualification being introduced this year.

The academy will offer its first T levels in science, health, business and administration along with digital support and services from September.

A successful bid has seen a £2.3m award for the state-of-the-art facilities which will provide a new block which will replace temporary classrooms.

“We are delighted to have been successful in our bid to deliver our first suite of T levels. UAH is one of few schools and colleges in the country to have been selected to deliver four of these exciting qualifications,” said principal Sheila Paige.

“This reflects the strong reputation we have for meeting the needs of learners in the area through our success in providing A levels, technical and vocational qualifications and our successful apprenticeship programmes,” she added.

A planning application has been submitted to South Holland District Council for the new development including a health and science lab.

Each T level is a two-year programme and the final Level 3 award is the equivalent of three A levels. It’s designed for learners who prefer a more technical and vocational approach and they will combine classroom theory with practical experience.

Each course has 45 days of industry experience to develop skills for higher education or high-level apprenticeships.
