Red-hot Moulton Harrox set for ‘game of season’ after thrashing Crowland Reserves

Crowland Town Res 0 Moulton Harrox 13

Moulton Harrox could hardly be in better form ahead of their biggest game of the season to date.

Saturday’s monstrous 13-0 PDFL League Cup victory at Crowland Town Reserves makes it 40 goals scored and zero conceded in their last eight games played for Bobby Patterson and Tim Cole’s side side.

That’s perfect form ahead of their Lincs FA Junior Cup semi-final at Grantham Town FC Academy this Saturday (1.30pm).

Co-boss Patterson is confident that his players will be up for the game as they continue their bid to win the county crown for a sixth time.

“Confidence is high in the squad,” said Patterson, who has won the trophy as a Moulton player. “Eight wins in a row, 40 goals scored and none against is as good as you can get.

“Perhaps we could have had some tougher opposition, but we can only beat whose in front of us.

“We’ve got a big coach of fans coming and it’ll be an occasion, that’s for sure.

“The lads have always raised their game for these kind of matches and I’m hoping that’ll be the case again.

“They lost on Saturday, so we know that they’re beatable. It’ll be a clash of styles, but I’m hoping our experience shines through.

“All of the boys are buzzing for the match.”

Last weekend’s crushing cup win at Crowland Reserves saw Declan Earth fire five goals, while Josh Ford made it three hat-tricks in as many games.

Joe Townsend (2), Ian Bradbury (2) and Josh McGuire completed the rout, while it’s also now an incredible eight clean sheets in a row for Harrox and keeper Ant Murphy.

Patterson added: “It was what it was. I think the league needs to look at this cup, as nobody wants to see this kind of result.

“The scoreline could have been whatever we wanted it to be and it’s hard to get overly excited by the result. At least we got no new injuries.”

Moulton could have Jonny Clay back from injury this weekend.

Harrox: Murphy, McGuire, Coddington, Chappell, Machin, Kisla, Smith, Davies, Earth, Ford, Bradbury. Subs used: Gardner, Townsend, Woodward.
