Generous Jake’s Xmas gifts

A 16-year-old from Spalding who acts as a youth ambassador for a national charity has once again been helping others in the run up to Christmas.

Jake Winkett has been supporting Kids Out for several years and once again this Christmas arranged a ‘Giving Tree’ to help provide gifts for young people who would otherwise go without a gift this year.

The Spalding Academy pupil has already raised hundreds of pounds for the charity this year through a sponsored walk and a Halloween disco.

Jake said: “Kids out is the only charity in the UK dedicated to bringing fun and happiness into the lives of disadvantaged children through innovative projects they help thousands of children every year across the UK who are affected by disadvantage.

“I became a youth Ambassador for the charity last year after gathering together over 45 presents for the children in care.

“It is very sad to think that a child might not get anything for Christmas so this is why I had to help last year.

“I am always thinking of new ways to raise money and make people aware of the charity.

“I would like to say a little personal thank you to a few people who have helped me by donating a gift some who work with my mum Julie at B&M Westlode Street, especially Allison Green, and my auntie Natalie Hewitt and to anyone else who has donated a gift. I really appreciate everyone’s help.

“If I only make just one person aware of the charity then I am happy as every child deserves a Christmas and a smile.”
