Holbeach United 0 Selston 5
Holbeach United slipped deeper into the ChromaSport UCL Premier Division North relegation mire on Saturday as fellow strugglers Selston smashed them 5-0 at Carter’s Park.
A shocking first half saw Gary Frost’s side fall 4-0 behind thanks to goals from Jordan Black (2), Jay Cooper and Ollie Grimshaw.
Cooper added another after the break to round off the scoring at Carter’s Park, leaving the Tigers bottom of the table, winless in 13 league games and with just three goals to their name in that time.
Rivals Selston, meanwhile, made it a third win in four games to leave the Tigers looking a little isolated in the drop zone.
Holbeach also lost the services of skipper Nick Jackson to Pinchbeck United and midfielder Tyler Wright to Sleaford Town ahead of the clash.
Boss Frost, who handed starts to new signings Will Nuttell and Nicky Frost, said: “Obviously the preparation wasn’t ideal.
“It wasn’t easy to lose those two lads as they were key players.
“But I’m not going to dig them out, they wanted to move on and we have to accept that.
“Nick, especially, has been here a while and isn’t used to the club being in dire straits like we are now.
“As for the game, I think it exposed the harsh reality that we are currently facing.
“The blend of youth and players that are only just stepping up to this level isn’t quite right and we were punished.
“It was a bad day. The belief isn’t there and a lot of players had their heads down as soon as we went behind. Our inexperience is killing us.”
Tigers: Frestle, Carter (Chester), Barnes, Warfield (Elston), Nuttell, Rose, Revell, Burdass, Tricks (Foster), Eyett, Frost.
