Give gifts and make a child’s Christmas

It’s the time of year when we ask our readers to dig deep and help make Christmas very special for local children who may otherwise miss out.

The Spalding Voice office is once again a collection point for the annual Give a Gift Campaign and we are hoping to pack the office with toys galore as we have in previous years.

“Having founded the campaign ten years ago I am extremely excited to be launching it again this week for Christmas,” said Harry Drury, a member of South Holland District Council.

“I am absolutely delighted to be working alongside the Spalding and South Holland Voice newspaper.”

Editor Rachel Mayfield said: “The Voice team is delighted to be working with Harry to make Christmas special for young residents.”

The appeal helps ensure less fortunate children aged between three and 14 years old have a gift to open on
December 25.

“We respectfully ask that the gifts are in new or ‘as new’ condition and we are unable to accept cuddly toys, make-up, toiletries or food and perishable items due to health and safety,” said Harry.

“The presents can be of any value to suit your budget, we are however unable to
accept money,” he added.

Gifts can be donated unwrapped at The Voice’s Goodison Road offices at the Lincs Gateway Business Park, Spalding, until 5pm on Monday, December 13.

The offices are open from 9am to 5pm on weekdays. Please do not leave gifts at the door if the office is closed.
Gifts will go to South Holland and Boston Child Services to be distributed in time for Christmas but if you know of any families in the South Holland or Boston area who might benefit from the campaign, email Rachel in confidence at [email protected] or write to Spalding and South Holland Voice, 2 Goodison Road, Lincs Gateway Business Park, PE12 6FY.

Other collection points are: DGG Property Consultants, Welland Workspace, 10 Pinchbeck Road, Spalding, with further collection points to be announced shortly.
