Cowbit teen banned after drug driving

A Cowbit teenager has been banned from driving for a year after being found driving with cocaine and
cannabis in his bloodstream.

William Neal, 19, of Capes Entry, Cowbit admitted two charges of driving under the influence of drugs
when he appeared at Boston Magistrates Court.

Yaysa Hue, prosecuting, said he was stopped while driving his Ford Fiesta on the A16 at Sutterton on
December 30 because he was not displaying headlights and was drugs wiped as there was a smell of
cannabis in the car.

She said he tested positive and was found to have 2.8 micrograms of cannabis, the legal limit is 2, and 103 micrograms of cocaine, the legal limit is 50, in his bloodstream.

She said Neal had previous drugs convictions in 2019.

Mitigating, Philippa Chatterton said Neal only used drugs on a social basis but, with his mother’s help, was no longer taking them at all.

She said he had taken the drugs at a party the night before.

Neal was banned from driving for a year and ordered to pay a fine of £300 and a total of £119 in court costs and charges.
