Spalding’s ladies toast a national double over Tydd

Spalding Golf Club’s ladies have made impressive progress in two different national knockout competitions.

The Annodata Competition was played at home against neighbouring Tydd St Giles Golf Glub.

The Spalding side, consisting of Nicky Weller, Tracy Siddle, Jackie Bailey-Scott, Jenny Van Gemeren and Jacquie Walton, swept the board with a 5-0 win.

Another derby victory was to follow, as Spalding also saw off Tydd St Giles in the Taskers Trophy.
In the first round of the two-legged competition played at home and away, Spalding won the home match 4-3 with victories from Olive Gooderson, Anita Cross, Siddle and Weller.

The second leg at Tydd resulted in a 5-2 win for the visitors, with triumphs for Claire Rylott, Bailey-Scott, Siddle and Weller. Gooderson and Cross both halved their matches.

* The weather was kind as 17 of Spalding Golf Club’s ladies played the tough Mary Hendry 27-hole medal competition last week.

Ronnie Thorogood was first with a mightily impressive -2, ahead of Tracy Siddle (+3), Claire Rylott (+4) and Jenny Van Gemeren (+5)

An 18 hole Stableford, played on the same day, was won by Jane Thompson (44pts).
