Hilda hits a hundred

A great grandma has celebrated her 100th birthday at a Gosberton care home.

Hilda Wollaston reached three figures on Sunday, February 28.

Daughter Susan was able to visit Bank House Care Home in Gosberton on the day.

And Hilda also enjoyed Facetime chats with other family members while care home staff threw a big party for her.

She has two daughters and one son, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Born near Hull and lived in Wetherby, and Dowsby previously, Hilda worked on a farm as part of the Land Army initially.

After bringing up her three children she worked at as a dinner lady.

Now she particularly enjoys bingo and dominoes.

Tracey Laude, the manager at Bank House, said: “Hilda was really happy to get her 100th birthday card from the Queen. Her daughter Susan, said she had been waiting for this for the last ten years.

“We had a lovely party for her with most of the staff attending as we paired it up with our first ever staff awards ceremony so it was a really fun afternoon.”
