KFC and Taco Bell planning application submitted for Spalding

Plans to build KFC and Taco Bell restaurants and drive thrus just off the A16 in Spalding have been submitted.

The application is for a single unit to be shared by the restaurants on the Lincs Gateway Business Park, near to the Applegreen Service Station.

Applicant Erindale Ltd said it hopes to create up to 60 jobs.

There’s long been calls for a KFC restaurant in the area with fans of fried chicken having to go as far as Peterborough or Boston for the nearest restaurants.

Taco Bell, which specialises in Mexican themed food, would also be a coup for the town with Nottingham the nearest branch.

Documents submitted with the application, state: “The proposed development is for the construction of a new KFC and Taco Bell restaurant and drive thru hot food takeaway with drive thru lane, car parking, landscaping and other associated infrastructure works.

“It will comprise of a single storey building including a 3032sqft KFC and 2060sqft Taco Bell restaurant/hot food takeaway.

“The application submission demonstrates that there will be economic, social and environmental benefits of the proposed development, whilst also demonstrating that there are no physical or environmental constraints that would prevent development coming forward on the site immediately, including highway impact and flooding.”

The Lincs Gateway Business Park was first mooted as a potential site to house KFC back in 2018 while the company was also part of a planning application as part of a service station further up the A16 near Springfields in 2019.

The latest submission to South Holland District Council was submitted yesterday (Wednesday) and is due to be decided upon within the next few months. The planning documents can be viewed here.
