Suspected drug driver told court he refused blood test because he didn’t like needles

A Pinchbeck man has told magistrates that he refused to give a blood sample for analysis because he was afraid of needles.

Keiran Worth, 24, of Cherry Holt Lane had admitted failing to provide the sample after he was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, following a positive drugs wipe for cannabis and cocaine.

Sukhdev Bisla had told Boston magistrates that Worth was seen driving his BMW car on the A151 and into Holbeach on December 1 and arrested him after the positive drugs wipe, but he admitted he had taken cocaine the previous night and refused to give a blood sample, saying he was not going to have blood taken from a vein.

He said Worth also had no insurance for the vehicle or a driving licence.

Worth, who was not represented in court, told the magistrates he had been ‘stupid’ but he didn’t like being injected.

He was banned from driving for 15 months and was fined a total of £240 and ordered to pay £119 in court costs and charges.
