Temporary traffic lights for relief road work

The next set of preparatory works for the northerly section of the Spalding Western Relief Road is due to start tomorrow (Tuesday).

Vegetation clearance along the B1356 Spalding Road near Pinchbeck will begin on Tuesday, November 10.

The works, which are for section five of the project, are expected to last for up to three weeks, Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm.

Although most of the work will be carried out away from main roads, daytime temporary traffic signals will be in place on the B1356 Spalding Road for five days from Tuesday November 10 to Friday November 13 November, as well as Monday November 16 (subject to suitable weather).

Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: “With bird-nesting season complete, Eurovia can now make a start on removing trees and other growth along the route of the road, including along the B1356 Spalding Road and in the fields along the route of relief road’s north section.

“There may be some disruption while the temporary traffic signals are in place, so we are asking people to allow extra time for their journeys.

“The team is also hard at work building the project’s permanent site compound off of Enterprise Way and will be making a start with building temporary haul roads for construction traffic soon – all ahead of starting main works.”
