Another F4 podium for Gobserton ace Abbi after stellar showing at Croft

Abbi Pulling put in another impressive performance in the F4 British Championship at Croft over the weekend.

The Gosberton teenager, who became the first-ever female racer to achieve an F4 podium earlier in the season, was back on the third step again on Sunday.

After qualifying fifth, she was third in the first race at the Darlington circuit before finishing fourth in the final outing.

After clinching her podium, Pulling said: “That was pretty satisfying!

Another British F4 podium in the bag. A mega start from fifth on the grid saw us rising to P3 at the end of lap one, successfully defended the next lap then drove away to take a competitive third place finish in changeable conditions.

“Big thanks to JHR Developments and Callan (School Of Send) but this one is for Alice Powell, who was away on F1 commentary duties this weekend. Thanks for everything.”

Pulling was pleased with her efforts in qualifying, having been as high as second at one stage.

However, her time of 1.20.024mins was good enough for fifth with Casper Stevenson on pole in 1.19.536mins.

Zak O’Sullivan resisted late pressure from the pole sitter to win round 19, but it was Pulling who was the best of the rest.

The JHR Developments driver was nearly four seconds behind the top two, but made third her own and was nearly five seconds clear of the chasing pack.

Race two saw Argenti Motorsport ace Stevenson grab a lights-to-flag victory with O’Sullivan second this time around.

Pulling was unable to usurp Luke Browning (Fortec) for third, but took fourth place.

The next round is at Snetterton (October 24).
