Councillor ‘stripped’ of roles

A South Holland District Councillor says he has been stripped of all his roles by his own party.
Jack McLean, Conservative member for Spalding St John’s Ward, took to social media to disclose some details about what was happening.
“I will no longer be the executive support member for the Communities or Place portfolios, or the vice chairman of the Policy Development Panel and I will no longer be chairman of the Spalding Town Forum after the next meeting.
“I can’t say much currently but I have no regrets. I have been honest, principled and hard working,” he wrote on Twitter on Friday.
“I am to be stripped of all roles on the council,” he added.
The annual meeting of the council is usually held in May, but had to be postponed due to coronavirus.
The election of the chairman and vice-chairman is one of the first things on the agenda.
Appointments to various council committees and a review of membership is also on the agenda.
Coun McLean said he wasn’t able to add anything to what he had posted ahead of the full council meeting which is due to be held on Wednesday evening.
He did add that he gave a ‘thumbs down for the leadership at SHDC.”
Coun McLean said he hoped to be able to say more about what had been happening after the meeting.
