Branch’s thanks for furniture

The Spalding branch of the Royal British Legion can rest easy at their new base thanks to a councillor and furniture donations from the public.

Having moved in to new premises on Westlode Street recently from Spring Gardens, the organisation put out an appeal to get more furniture, especially chairs.

Coun Gary Taylor has used some of his allocated budget to help buy some from B&M in Spalding.

Graham Hewitt, the chairman of the Spalding branch of the RBL, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who has helped us to get this far, it has been a long journey.

“It will help the volunteers and make it comfortable for those attending their meetings.

“The colour of the chairs is so apt and it made sense to pick them.”

RBL volunteer Jan Whitbourn thanked members of the public for offering furniture.

“Thank you to everyone for all the help and support given to us,” she said. “Many people in the community have called and offered furniture.

“It was great to meet those who donated and the items will be very useful for when we can all get back to some sort of normality and hold our meetings in the new office.”
