LETTERS – Will the council not learn from mistakes?

I have just read the article about proposed moving of both Spalding and Long Sutton markets away from their street positions to car parks away from town centres.

Will SHDC not learn by their mistakes?

Holbeach town centre used to have a vibrant footfall on a Thursday market day when its market was both on High Street and Church Street.

Market was moved down to a car park well away from High Street, too far for OAPs to walk down to if they came up on bus!

After a month or so, the stalls got less and less, until some weeks only one, or even none turn up.

And Holbeach High Street footfall is virtually nil some days?

Long Sutton, great market, on Market Street! Need I say more?

Spalding Market, large market, in the Market Place!

Think again SHDC, don’t kill these other towns as you have had a hand in doing so for Holbeach!
