Hat-trick of victories for unbeaten Spalding Netball Club

Spalding Netball Club have continued their stellar start to the season with a third win from as many games.

It was another total team performance from the Tulips, who roared to a 25-9 triumph over Boltz Red in Division C of the Boston Netball League.

They produced some superb defending throughout the clash – especially in the third quarter, where they successfully stopped their opponents from scoring.

Smart passes in and around the edge of the goal circle enabled the Tulips to get in shots at regular intervals, too.

Although Boltz Red fought extremely well, they were unable to get back into the game and Spalding secured another impressive victory.

Millie Weller impressed with the players’ player of the match award in the win, while Lucy Boyce was the umpire’s player.

Having beaten Falcons 27-17 in their season opener, they also knocked off Boston’s Delta Belles 34-15 in their second fixture last week.

The Tulips were tested in the first quarter, but soon eased into a four-goal advantage. Battling well to maintain possession and widen the game in quarters two and three,

Spalding extended their lead with Weller showing some great movement in the circle.

They duly held onto their sizeable lead in the fourth and final quarter, with some impressive defending and timely interceptions keeping Delta Belles at bay.

Kayleigh Rowledge was named players’ player of the match in that clash, with Weller walking away with the umpire’s player award.

  • Spalding Netball Club will be opening its doors to their first under-12 junior section in September.
