Poetry and singing at party

A Spalding care home celebrated Christmas with song and verse at its residents’ Christmas party.

Staff and residents enjoyed a festive afternoon at St John’s Care Home at Hawthorn Bank last week.

Stephanie Lamont, one of three activities coordinators at the home, helped organise the party and called on a newly formed group to assist with the entertainment.

“Over the past few months I’ve been working closely with our residents to form a choir and a poetry club,” Stephanie said.

“A few weeks ago I decided to put together a Christmas concert which brought together both songs and poetry.

“The residents enjoyed singing the Christmas songs and reading the Christmas poems and getting ready for the concert.

“Staff joined with the singing, poetry and Christmas cracker jokes and a resident’s husband joined in by dressing up and reading us two of his own Christmas poems.”

Stephanie hopes to put on more group concerts.
