£50,000 project to upgrade Cowbit pavilion

Community champions are hoping people will get behind their £50,000 plans to extend a village’s changing rooms.

Cowbit Playing Field Committee has launched a crowdfunding project in the hope of raising the large sum of money to overhaul the pavilion.
It is hoped the extension and revamp will bring the changing facilities up to FA requirements for the benefit of a newly-formed football team in the village.
Committee chairman Jonathan Matthews said: “About four months ago the Playing Field Committee were contacted by a man keen to start up a Cowbit Football Team and be the manager and coach.
“Since then he has been coaching a group of young adults from the village from every Saturday and he has entered Cowbit Youth into the Peterborough and Distict Sunday League (U18) for September 2015.
“Unfortunately, the current changing room facility does not support the FA requirements and they need extending.
“This will not only benefit the youngsters in our village by giving them something to be a part of but it will also help in our overall goal to regenerate the playing field for the good of the whole village community.”
The crowdfunding project asks for donations towards the total, with people able to pledge from as little as £10.
Those who pledge £500 or more will have their name inscribed on a plaque and anyone able to give £5,000 or more could have one of the three changing rooms named after them.
There is also the opportunity for a main backer, able to donate £15,000 or more, to have the pavilion named after them.
There is also the opportunity to pledge “skills”, to complete the project such as builders and an architect.
The crowdfunding project runs until 3pm on July 29 and anyone interested in helping can go to www.crowdfunder.co.uk/cowbit-village-pavilion-upgrade/
