League is looking towards new season

The Spalding and District Table Tennis League has finished its summer sessions and will start looking towards the new season, which gets under way on September 14.
Before that, however, were the presentations and the annual general meeting (AGM) tonight (Wednesday).
The committee were hoping for a good turn-out with the positions of League Secretary and Match Secretary needing to be filled with the resignations of the current post holders, the latter role perhaps by more than one person.
It is also hoped that the committee will be able to confirm those wishing to play in next season’s league, whether they are already with a team or not.
During August, the Summer Fun sessions went down very well, with regular attendees.
As for the other tables there have been at least five out most weeks, though it has to be said the numbers have been boosted by members of other leagues who took advantage of Spalding’s all-year-round sessions to keep in practice.
Often the visitors have been at least as many as league members, though in fairness a number play other sports in the summer, which will not translate into more players for the league – but nevertheless helps to break even over the summer.
