A developer wants to build 40 homes on an agricultural field diagonally opposite Birchgrove Garden Centre in Surfleet Road, Pinchbeck.
Kirk Homes, of Enterprise Way, Pinchbeck, has submitted the plan to South Holland District Council for a field a little closer to Surfleet than the garden centre.
The plan states permission would normally be turned down for the proposal but in the absence of an adopted Local Plan and five-year supply of housing, should be approved as has been the case with many recent proposals in the district.
The proposal said: “Concern may be raised about the loss of high-quality agricultural land to housing.
“To deliver the council’s required housing need it is inevitable that some high-grade agricultural land will be lost. Given this context, it is not considered that the loss of this amount of agricultural land (2.324 ha) in this location, is an issue that would significantly outweigh the benefits of housing development.”
The application is for outline permission – permission for the principle of development.
