Pinchbeck United boss content with clinical finishing in cup tie thrashing of Sutton Bridge United

A PFA Senior Cup tie which might have been considered a potential banana skin for Pinchbeck United proved anything but.

Ian Dunn’s Premier Division side tore apart Division One high-fliers Sutton Bridge United in an 8-0 romp at Knight Street on Saturday (November 28).

Player/boss Ian Dunn and Dan Woods each scored twice and there were also goals for Tony Edwards, Brad Murrell, Liam Ogden and Ryan Leggett.
Pinchbeck were at it from the off, getting ahead within five minutes and adding three more goals before half-time.

There was no way back for the visitors, who fell 7-0 behind before the only black spot of Pinchbeck’s afternoon.
Keeper Jordan McCready raced out of his box and handled the ball, prompting a red card.
His second sending off this season will lead to a two-match suspension.

Dunn said: “I can’t argue with that decision because he denied a goalscoring opportunity.”
But the boss was more than happy with his in-form side’s performance.
He said: “If I’m being ultra-critical we’ve maybe been guilty of not converting chances, but in this one we took a lot of them, which is obviously pleasing for a manager.”

Modest Dunn said his two goals were “standard centre forward finishes” and picked out Leggett’s smashed finish after robbing a defender and beating two players, and Ogden’s 12-yard volley as the pick of the bunch.

Captain Nick Bishop serves a one-match ban this weekend for the trip to Stilton United. The reverse fixture was a 5-0 win, but Dunn is expecting a tougher time.

Pinchbeck: McCready, B Murrell, A Murrell, Brooks, Bishop, Gardner, Francis, Ogden, Woods, Edwards, Dunn. Subs: Dickinson, Lawe, Leggett.
