3-1 derby day win for Long
Sutton men’s second team

LSHC Mens’ 1st 5
Cambridge City 3rd 3
Sutton started fast but posed little threat early doors.
Josh Baker scored after a call from Joshua Fyson found Dominic Ibrahim who put it on a plate for Baker to finish.
City clawed one back with an excellent finish.
Sutton responded, winning their first short of the day. It was duly dispatched by Fyson.
Once again City fought back, winning a short corner from which they converted.
The defence tightened up and James Cliff was relatively untroubled in the second half.
Sutton’s third came from a ball over the top from Fyson.Baker was able to run onto it and with one touch lobbed the keeper to make it three.
Once again, City responded and scored a well worked goal.
Sutton continued to fight back and another upgrade saw them convert their fourth.
A shot from Nick Ellis found Dan Oldfield on the post to tap home his first of the season.
The final goal came from a link up between Baker and Olly Taylor with the latter passing the ball to Ellis who scored.

LSHC Men’s 2nd 3
Spalding 2nd 1
From the off, the game was an end-to-end affair, with both teams having chances.
The defences stamped their authority and at the other end, a well-marshalled plan by Tom Baguley ensured Spalding attacks were dealt with.
Sutton moved into top gear and Will Taylor picked off the aerial, before feeding in Jackson, who took a touch, drew the keeper, and put it on the back post for Eddie Hales to tap in.
Shortly after, Jackson ended up with the ball in the D and some smart work resulted in a penalty flick for Sutton. Alex Canham duly dispatched the ball to make it 2-0.
A flood of chances eventually proved too much for Rob Callaby in the Spalding goal, and Daniel Plant got his fifth goal in three games.
From a short corner, Alfie Braginton was sent the wrong way in goal, and James Grant slotted home to try and start the comeback but the game ended 3-1.

LSHC Ladies’ 2nd 1
Pelicans 3rds 0
Sutton started well and some super passing and fabulous communication showed this young team are gelling.
It wasn’t long before the speed of Annabelle Giles and the work rate of Alison Whittaker stretched Pelicans.
Some super work took Sutton high up the pitch and Katie Whittaker was on hand to smash in a rebound to give Sutton the lead.
Pelicans were almost able to restore parity but for a diving save from Ellie Sandal.
The game ended with an extremely well deserved victory for this side.
