More than £18,000 is earmarked for refurbishing the main gates to Spalding’s Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.
It means South Holland District Council’s budget for the facility in the forthcoming financial year is set to be hiked by 60 per cent from £30,200 to £48,400.
A council spokesman said: “The funds have been earmarked for a one-off project to refurbish the main gates at the Sir Halley Stewart Field.
“The proposal will go before members in February. If approved, the money would come out of the Spalding Special Reserve fund, so there would be no impact on local council tax.”
The budget for Spalding cemetery is expected to be upped by £8,260 to £54,160 and for allotments by £700 to £2,500.
However, the overall budget is expected to see only a £1,500 increase after savings were identified for Ayscoughfee Gardens (£200), administrative support (£690), Spalding town centre promotion (£1,430) and contribution to reserves (£13,405).
