I rather thought Nick was the senior councillor in Holbeach. He was certainly the guy in charge and deputy leader of SHDC when our car park ceased to be free, Tesco was built, the library funding was withdrawn, the bus stop moved, all the new housing was allowed, the market allowed to die with the remnant moved to Boston road, one entrance to the car park closed, the new second town centre moved to the Co-op, the grass verge cutting was ceased or reduced, the street lights switched off, the rates increased, the Parish support from SHDC was withdrawn, previous 106 cash used to subsidise County and District budgets, ( traffic lights) and so on.
Now we're supposed to cheer because LCC give us a new roundabout, when they put one in the wrong place to start with... and to pay for it, we get 1000 odd new homes with no new infrastructure.
County and District will get a huge boost to their rates from close to doubling the population of Holbeach, they can pay for the new school with that. Let's see 106 money spent on things like buying the Chequers,
developing the parks, playgrounds and purchasing more green spaces, a better medical centre, more staff for the Parish council so we can keep the town cleaner, providing small grants to help new High Street business to come to the town.
Let's start now, by getting a new County councillor.
