Trio helped keep services in town

Three people who helped save community services in Crowland have been thanked for their ten years’ volunteering to help keep them going.

Julie Smith, Paul Bywater and David Kennedy were among those who stepped up the plate when Lincolnshire County Council announced it was to close Crowland Library in 2013.
All three were founders of the community interest company formed to start it as well as the creation of the Togs ‘n’ Cloggs charity shop to help make the resulting Crowland Hub viable and flourishing.
After an appeal for new trustees to come forward to run the Hub was successful, Julie, Paul and David are stepping down to let the younger blood come through.
At a recent meeting, Sue Simmons was appointed as secretary and Annette Turner as treasurer.
Paul will stay on until the lease of the building has been renewed with the county council. It runs until 2025.
All three stepping down were presented with certificates during a special tea party at the Hub.
A spokesman for the Crowland Hub committee said: “We wish to thank all the trustees, managers and volunteers, past and present, for their hard work in making the Hub, library and Togs ‘n’ Cloggs the successes that they are, but especially David and Julie without whom we would probably not be here today.”
